PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Colourless, glossy to matt wood finish that uniquely combines the advantages of natural oils and waxes in one product. Osmo Hartwachs-Öl Original is dirt-resistant, water-repellent, abrasion-resistant and produces a surface that is pleasant to the touch.
Compared to conventional coating systems, the use of plant-based ingredients results in a more even colour and a more harmonious finish.
Simple application - without primer and intermediate sanding - saves time and money.
Open-pored, suitable for wood, does not crack, does not flake or peel. Resistant to wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water in accordance with DIN 68861-1A - no water stains.
The dried coating is harmless to humans, animals and plants (saliva and perspiration resistant according to DIN 53160, suitable for children's toys according to EN 71.3).
AREAS OF APPLICATION
Osmo Hartwachs-Öl Original is ideal for the protection of all wooden floors such as solid wood floorboards, country house floorboards, ship flooring, OSB and cork flooring as well as for furniture surfaces.
INGREDIENTS
Based on natural vegetable oils and waxes (sunflower oil, soya oil, safflower oil, carnauba and candelilla wax), paraffins, siccatives (drying agents) and water-repellent additives. Dearomatised white spirit (petrol-free). EU limit value for the product (Cat. 1.i): 500 g/l VOC (2010). This product contains a maximum of 500 g/l VOC.
STORABILITY
5 years and longer if stored dry and tightly closed. If thickened by frost, store at room temperature for 24-36 hours before use.
PREPARATION
The wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (max. 18 % wood moisture content).
Osmo Hartwachs-Öl Original is ready to apply, do not dilute. Stir thoroughly.
Thoroughly clean old open-pored coats. Old coats of paint and varnish must be completely removed. Always wear a dust mask when sanding. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in the wood (Osmo wood paste).
Sand the wood surface carefully, starting with coarse sandpaper - final sanding for floors P120-150, furniture P180-240. Remove sanding dust by sweeping and vacuuming the surface before oiling.
The coating result depends, among other things, on the condition of the wood. For this reason, a test coat should always be applied, especially on unknown substrates.
PROCESSING
Apply thinly in the direction of the wood grain with Osmo Surface Brush, Floor Brush, Oil Colour Applicator Fleece (Hand Pad Holder) or Microfibre Roller and spread thoroughly.
Allow to dry for 8-10 hours with good ventilation. After drying, apply the second coat thinly and quickly.
When renovating an already oiled surface, one coat on the dirt-cleaned surface is usually sufficient.
CLEANING THE TOOLS
With Osmo Brush Cleaner (aromatic-free).
DRYING TIME
Approx. 8-10 hours (at standard climate, 23 °C/50 % rel. humidity). The drying time is longer at lower temperatures and/or higher humidity. Ensure good ventilation.
The surface is fully cured after approx. 2-3 weeks.
YIELD
1 litre is sufficient for approx. 24 m2 with 1 coat.
The coverage of the product depends largely on the condition of the existing wood. All information refers to smooth and planed/sanded surfaces. Other surfaces may result in different coverage.
NOTES
Oils intensify the natural colour of the wood (permanent wet effect). Too thick an application and insufficient ventilation lead to drying delays.
We recommend the use of Osmo Klarwachs for dark and richly coloured hardwoods (e.g. wenge, merbau, jatoba etc.). Test coat recommended.
Due to the high absorbency of cork surfaces, a particularly thin coat should be applied. A longer drying time is to be expected on cork (at least 24 hours).
Attention: Apply max. 1x thin coat with a cloth inside cupboards and drawers.
Wood surfaces treated with Osmo Hartwachs-Öl Original are easy to maintain. Remove coarse dirt with a broom or hoover. To clean, add Osmo Wisch-Fix to the wiping water and clean the surface with a damp (not wet!) mop.
For refreshing and intensive cleaning, use Osmo Wax Care and Cleaning Agent as required.
If a higher gloss level is desired, apply a thin layer of Osmo Wax Care and Cleaning Agent after thorough drying and polish after drying.
